Blanket of Secrecy (1982)
Peter Marsh adopted the pseudonym 'Tinker' as the front man for the synthpop project Blanket of Secrecy
Peter Marsh was the voice behind Blanket of Secrecy, a new wave synthpop trio which released the album 'Walls Have Ears' (F-Beat Records) in the UK - which was entitled 'Ears Have Walls' (Warner Brothers) in the US - in 1982.
A single from the album 'Say You Will' received extensive airplay at the time and the album received rave reviews. It has subsequently been described by Billboard magazine as:
"AN UNDISCOVERED CLASSIC OF THE PERIOD, PURE POP".
True to the name of the band, the members were not officially identified at the time, but used the pseudonyms Tinker, Tailor and Soldier. There was much speculation about the band's identity over the decades (including a theory that the album was by the Attractions, Elvis Costello's backing group), before the identify of the members was eventually revealed.
It was revealed several decades on that Peter Marsh was 'Tinker' (on vocals and guitar), Roger Bechirian was 'Soldier' (on keyboards and backing vocals, percussion, producer, engineer and mixer) and Andy Howell was 'Tailor' (bass and backing vocals). A 2013 interview with the band members by Stephen SPAZ Schnee revealed the reasons for the end of the project, and unveiled why the band had disappeared.

Proceeds from sales of this beautiful song about coming to terms with a bereavement will be donated to St Christopher’s Hospice.
The single was released on 1 December 2016 and is available for download from music download sites and streaming services. Fly Away is the first single from Peter Marsh's forthcoming album 'Back To The Beginning' (which will be released in early 2017). ‘Back to the Beginning’, includes a number of tracks inspired by the loss of Peter Marsh's partner, Laurence, three years ago. Laurence was cared for by St Christopher’s Hospice at the end of her life and Peter is donating the profits from sales of ’Fly Away’, a single from the album, to St Christopher’s, in her memory. Although it was inspired by his personal loss, Peter believes and hopes that ‘Fly Away’ will be meaningful and inspirational to anyone suffering from the loss of a loved one - those memories which can be especially difficult to deal with at Christmas time. We’re sure you’ll agree that it’s a beautiful song and we encourage you to download the track from one of the following links: Remember you’ll be benefiting St Christopher’s with every purchase!
